The Kawah Ijen Volcano, East Java, Indonesia. Ijen is a 20 kilometers wide caldera, which houses more volcanoes in it. One of them is the Kawah Ijen volcano, which is filled with sulfur. When it burns the blue flames appear – the site is especially amazing at night.

Ijen is a quiet but active volcano, set amidst a stunning landscape of volcanic cones. The beautiful turquoise coloured sulfur lake that resides here is the largest acidic lake in the world and the result of a volcanic crater.
Ijen’s last magma eruption took place in 1871. The eruption jostled its crater lake, which resulted in the lake overflowing, and creating a mudslide which destroyed many villages in the vicinity.
Since then only phreatic eruptions or stream eruptions have taken place. Although in 1997, the color of lake changed slightly and appeared to bubble for a short time, no magmatic eruption occurred.

Travelers flock to Ijen for what’s know as the “Blue Fire”. An electric-blue flame that appears from the combustion of sulfuric gases. The gases emerge from cracks in the volcano at high pressure and temperature of up to 1,112°F (600°C). Igniting when they come in contact with air. The blue flames can reach up to 16 feet (5 meters) high.

Although the surroundings look rather unfriendly – an acid lake and petrified sulfur in the caldera – they are useful. The Ijen caldera is used as the coffee plantations, since the soil is very fertile. And the sulfur mine extracts the minerals.

DAY 01 :

BALI – BROMO
Pick up at your hotel, drive west to Bali Barat National Park. Arrive at Gilimanuk Harbor at approximately 11.20.am. Ferry to Ketapang, take’s 30 minutes to Ketapang harbour. Heading north-west, we will have lunch at local restaurant in Banyuwangi. Continue the Bromo. Check in at the hotel around 17.30 pm. dinner.Then early start to watch the sunrise over Mount Penanjakan.

DAY 02 :

MOUNT BROMO
Get up at 03.45 am, your four wheel drive jeep will take you to Mount Penanjakan through sleepy villages to see the sunrise. The most spectacular scenery in Indonesia. Drive back to Mt Bromo, walk to the volcano of (700 m). You can take ride on a village horse to the top of the volcano through the “stairway to heaven”,when you are at the rim of the crater you can feel the energy of a live volcano , once in a life time opportunity .Back to the hotel for lunch, then check out from hotel (Yoshi, Cemara indah hotel or other )

DAY 03 :

IJEN CRATER BLUE FLAME
Climb to Ijen – Bali (C) One of the jewels in East Java, Ijen Crater has attracted travelers from all over the world. We continue to Ijen around 7 hour drive. A coffee break, try Javanese coffee , tour the coffee plantation, coffee demonstration, walk through the village of Sempol, stay overnight at Ijen. Breakfast at 4.00 am starting point Paltudinng and climb to the top of Mt Ijen, see spectacular scenery of the crater. the climb is easy, see the sulfur collector workers, carrying sulfur bags, weighing 50 kg to 105 kg twice a day. At the top, you will be tempted to go down into the crater, your guide will decide whether it is safe to go down depending on conditions. Tour ends, back to starting point, then drive back to Bali.
